Stephanie is one of RangeCare's Personal Care Workers.

We decided to ask Stephanie a couple of questions so that you can get to know her.
Here is what she had to say:
What does your role involve?
I go around and help people who need showers, assisting in dressing, prepare food for them and sometimes do domestic work if they can’t handle vacuum cleaners or washing, putting it on the line.
How long have you worked for RangeCare?
I have been here since the end of September.
When and how did you first learn about RangeCare?
An ad in the paper looking for workers.
I had been working and my work was finished because of COVID and so I thought I would do something that I wanted to do for years. I did a CERT III course and then about 3 weeks later I came here for an interview and I got the job.
It’s as if I dropped into something I was meant to do all my life because I really love working with really good people. There is quite a few who make me feel humble when I walk into their homes.
How would you describe RangeCare?
I think they are absolutely wonderful. I haven’t had any problems with anyone working in the company. They look after their workers, they look after their clients, the people they are assisting.
I had a little problem the other day and talked to my supervisor, and he was just wonderful with me. Calmed all my fears.
What’s the most inspiring part of your role?
The peoples' houses I walk into. I see them and they make me humble.
I’ve got a little lady who really is bent in half and she manages to be very independent. She’s in her 90’s and always cheerful.
I also look after a gentleman who has just turned 100. He is still at home and he just needs assistance in his showers.
What is a challenge in your role?
Making sure that I treat every person individually and to the best of my ability.
Some are a little bit more difficult than others, simply because of their situation.
Trying to get them to do what they need to do without stepping over the line.
What is your favourite memory from working at RangeCare?
There’s so many of them really. When one client turned 100, we had a little afternoon tea for him. He was so happy and showing off his letters from the Queen, the Governor General and the Prime Minister.
What was your first job?
I was working for an accountant as a filing Clark many many years ago.
What’s a fun fact most people don’t know about you?
That I can be very cheeky.
What are your hobbies?
I’ve got two grandchildren who are 5 and 3, so I love doing things with them. Make up with my little granddaughter and trying to build something with my grandson that I fail horribly at. We have a dog who is a Border Collie who I love taking on walks.
I do walking and reading because I love reading. I sew and knit, paddle board sometimes when I can stand up, which isn’t often because I usually fall off the board.
Would you recommend working at RangeCare and why?
Yes, without a doubt! Because it is a great bunch of people to work for, very supportive and they look after both their staff and the people who use their services.
I know I can go anytime to anybody if I need help.
