RangeCare has a strong reputation for delivering quality in-home, respite and social support services to residents of the Blackall Range and surrounding areas. But we can't do it alone.
Volunteering at RangeCare
RangeCare is fortunate to have the support of around 150 local community
members who give their time voluntarily to support our clients and their carers. We simply couldn't provide the level of service that we do without the support of our volunteers.
Our volunteers support the community through a wide range of roles, including:
Meals on Wheels volunteers collect and deliver nutritious meals to people’s homes in Maleny
Volunteer drivers take clients to and from appointments
Kitchen volunteers assist at the Cottage Social & Respite Centre in Flaxton, Nambour & Gympie
Day Centre Volunteers support social activities at our Centres in Nambour, Flaxton & Gympie
Social Support Volunteers visit people in their homes or make regular phone calls to offer friendship and social support to older people
Op Shop Volunteers support the RangeCare Op Shop in Mapleton
RangeCare’s Board of Directors consist of elected volunteer members
Why Volunteer with Us
RangeCare offers a variety of options for volunteering to suit your interests, experience and availability. You can volunteer with RangeCare and use your existing skills while learning new ones in a welcoming and supportive team environment … and it's great to know that you are making a real difference in people’s lives. We know that the benefits of volunteering go both ways!
We will provide support throughout your time volunteering with us – this includes induction and orientation as well as ongoing support from our Volunteer Support Team. We also offer free training workshops for volunteers and opportunities throughout the year to get together socially and meet other volunteers.
Whether you have a little or a lot of time to give, we are appreciative of everyone’s contribution and would love to hear from you.
Current Volunteer Vacancies
We are looking for compassionate volunteers who enjoy the company of older adults to do regular social visits. Depending on mutual interests you may enjoy having a cuppa, playing cards or board games or doing a bit of gardening together. Visits are usually once a week or once a fortnight for 1 hr.
Maleny Poetry Group Facilitator
Do you have a love of poetry? We are looking for a volunteer to facilitate a new monthly poetry group for older adults in Maleny. You don't have to be a poet yourself, just have an interest in poetry and enjoy conversation and bringing people together.
Contact Hannah or Cara on 5445 7044 for more information or complete our online Volunteer Application Form.
“I enjoy volunteering in the kitchen because I like to be useful and helpful. I enjoy working with the staff because they are a lot of fun. They are kind and very helpful”
– Karen (Kitchen Assistant in the Flaxton Day Centre).
“I started volunteering with RangeCare to get to know more people in the area. It was important to me to connect with people who are. Volunteering is giving me interesting things to do with my time. I don’t feel like the visits are part of volunteer work, it’s more like visiting a friend now”
– Marie (Home Visiting Volunteer, Maleny).

What Our Clients Say...
It is more than three years since we joined Rangecare and I want to thank everyone who does something for us. The people who answer the phone and those who deliver meals and take us to Doctors etc. You treat us with dignity, with a happy smile on your faces. We appreciate everything you do for us. The Rangecare Family make life so much easier especially with us not having family close by. We look forward to hearing the doorbell and seeing you. You are here for us on good days and the bad days. We should tell you more often and not take you for granted.
So a big THANK YOU to everyone from us both.
