Have you met Claire?

Read on to get to know Claire a little better.

What is your position at RangeCare?

Care Support Worker

What does this involve?

We empower people to stay in their own homes.

How long have you worked with RangeCare?

2 years

How did you first hear about RangeCare?

I already worked in the industry and I knew people who used the service and so I applied to come up here.

How would you describe RangeCare?

They only employee people who genuinely care. That makes all the difference. You've got to have that caring nature and want to work with people and give your very best. You need to spread your joy to the people we are going to.

What’s the most inspiring part of your role?

The clients we work with. We work with some of the most fantastic people, especially older people who have war stories, and you find out what they've gone through. They are so tough, and they are so grateful for anything you do. They are amazing people.

What is a challenge in your role?

Losing them. When they pass away or go into full time care. It's very hard because you know they don't want to, but sometimes it's necessary.

What is your favourite memory from work?

I had a client recently who I was taking out, and I was going to bring my car to the door and unfortunately a hearse beat me to it because someone was having a funeral at that location and the client thought it was my car! I had to say "this is not my care darling that's a hearse, and you are not going in that". It was hilarious.

What was your first job?

I was in the police force for two years.

What’s a fun fact most people don’t know about you?

I was really good at self defence when I was in the police. I could put a 17 stone (107kgs) man on the floor in less 8 seconds. It makes me mad when I watch police shows now because I think why can't they use the self defence moves we were taught?

Do you have any hobbies?

Cooking, reading, swimming, people, travel, I love different countries and cultures.

Would you recommend working at RangeCare?

Yes I would but only come here if you are going to give 100% because the people here deserve it. Our clients deserve the very best.
