Today is the 20th anniversary of International Volunteers Managers Day. This day creates an opportunity for businesses to reflect on and celebrate the critical work our Volunteer Managers do. We wanted to take the opportunity, on this significant day to recognise and profile one of our Volunteer Coordinators who has been a vital part of RangeCare’s ongoing volunteering programs.
Linda Bell has been a Volunteer Coordinator at RangeCare for over five years. During this time, Linda has been instrumental in the development of RangeCare’s volunteer program and accompanying events. Linda is a wealth of knowledge in all things volunteer. Her personalised approach to relationship building with our volunteers, is a skill that cannot be taught. Linda has been an instrumental part in assisting the initial set up of our OpShop.
We asked Linda a couple of questions about her role and time at RangeCare. Here is what she had to say;
What is your favourite part about your role?
The very best part of my role is meeting so many good-hearted local residents offering their time to benefit our frailer range residents and others in need of support.
What are the most challenging aspects of your role?
The most challenging aspects of the role are minimising the risk of volunteer fatigue and responding to roster gaps at short notice…..but our wonderful volunteers step up so often!
What type of volunteer opportunities does RangeCare/NDC/BRCG offer?
RangeCare’s fabulous volunteers support us in a range of areas of our business. The types of volunteer opportunities available include;
assisting clients at the Day Respite Centre,
transporting clients to and from appointments
meals on Wheels service
retail work in our Op Shop
assisting clients in our Healthy Lifestyle programs
What are the top three achievement highlights during your time at RangeCare/NDC/BRCG?
As an organisation, we can be very proud of our volunteer retention rates, our success in matching wonderfully kind volunteers to roles which they enjoy and flourish in…and the strong sense of belonging and community that is woven together through our volunteer network in the hills!
What are three qualities you admire in RangeCare/NDC/BRCG volunteers?
We know that all of our staff and clients admire and appreciate the enthusiasm, dedication and flexibility of our RangeCare volunteers.

It is with heartfelt gratitude that we say farewell to Linda Bell who will be retiring in December. Words cannot adequately express the appreciation we have for Linda’s tireless efforts in creating the modern policies and procedures to support our volunteer program, the recruitment, management and set up of RangeCare’s first Opshop and her positive and kind presence on a daily basis.
